Research Activity
Started with the goal of exploring the expanded dimension of the animated image as a language of communication, over the years the laboratory has broadened its core activities around communication design, embracing challenges such as corporate identity design; exhibit design; moving image design; interaction design; the exploration of languages, approaches and technologies to make complex information more accessible; design for cultural heritage, scientific dissemination and social communication.
Its activity is currently concentrated around two key research tracks. The exploration of languages, approaches and technologies to make complex information more accessible; and the intersections and interactions between the diegetic space of the audiovisual artefact and the spatial narrative power of the exhibition space.
The research unit embraces a wide range of skills: communication design, its strategic positioning and use in social networks, the conception, creation and distribution of audiovisual (and not) informative and documentary products, with particular emphasis in animated and video-graphic artefacts, the conception and production of multimedia installations in the domain of exhibitions, the integration between the real and the virtual dimension.
