THE 14TH INTERNATIONAL SINAN SYMPOSIUM

ARCHITECTURE and THE FUTURE
During the modernization process, the concept of future has shaped all the disciplines, as well as the areas of thought.
Through the Futurist Manifesto (1909) it was aimed at transforming the human being who had been shaped by recent scientific discoveries.
According to Futurism, breaking ties with the past and generating the future of the age comes to the foreground.
In that case, we are questioning the speed of time in the perception of both the past and the future. In the artistic works, such as the poem "I Want to Become Mechanized", the movie "Modern Times" and the novel "Paris in the Twentieth Century", human being is taken as the basic factor within the perspective of fictional future.
Our present can be considered as the future of past periods, as it will turn to the past time of future. At this point, there comes a question, where the architecture takes position within the action of formulating the time.

The 14th International Sinan Symposium (14-ISS) will be held in Edirne at Trakya University Faculty of Architecture on 17-18 April 2025.
All researchers are invited to discuss and put forward new perspectives on the topic "Architecture and the Future".
