IC-FOODS is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an interoperable Internet of Food (IoF). The IoF operates over semantically cohered data/knowledge from devices, surveys, policies, plans, economics, media, ethnographies, and sensorial accountings. We engage arrays of stakeholders, developing shared semantics across domains. Semantic cyberinfrastructures enable knowledge democratization, accelerated discovery, and broader social equity across food, environment, health, livelihoods, and culture.
Dr. Matthew Lange is co-founder, CEO, and Chief Science Officer of IC-FOODS, the International Center for Food Ontology Operability Data and Semantics. Before spinning IC-FOODS out of UC Davis, Dr. Lange held teaching and research positions in the UC Davis Department of Food Science and Technology, as well as in the Graduate Program in Health Informatics at UC Davis Medical School. Prior to enjoying a Postdoc in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the UC Davis School of Medicine, Dr. Lange earned his PhD in Food Science Biochemistry at University of California Davis where he focused on interoperability of food systems data stretching across the environment<>ag<>food<>diet<>health knowledge continuum.
