Maurizio Napolitano terrà un workshop molto pratico con il quale insegnerà a creare mappe attraverso strumenti online. L’evento si terrà in due momenti: 1a parte - un intervento per ispirare, 2a parte - un laboratorio per imparare.
In the digital age, maps serve as a potent and versatile communication medium, evolving far beyond their traditional role as mere geographic guides to become vehicles for complex narratives, interactive data, and cultural insights. The "Maptime!" workshop not only aims to explore the rising significance of maps in online communication but also stands as part of an international initiative dedicated to spreading knowledge about the world of maps. Drawing inspiration from this global movement, the workshop offers an immersive experience into the creation of maps online and his social impact. Through hands-on experience each participant of the event have the opportunity to learn how create a map by using the sate-of-the-art online tools.
Maurizio Napolitano is a technologist at the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento and is currently the Head of the Digital Commons Lab (DCL). In this regard, his primary focus lies in the development of policies, actions, and software related to open data. He also contributes to academia by teaching Geospatial Analysis as part of the Data Science Master’s program at the University of Trento. In his role, he has organized and delivered numerous courses for journalists, academics, public administrators, and innovators, covering a diverse range of socio-technical subjects, including data analysis, data visualization, geospatial analysis, open data, and effective communication. Outside of academia, he has had the privilege of speaking at various science dissemination events. These experiences have allowed him to share his insights and expertise with a diverse audience. In his leisure time, he is passionate about civic hacking, particularly creating maps of smart cities. This intersection of technology, data, and community engagement drives his enthusiasm for his work.
