The Gartner Hype Cycle describes the typical trajectory of emerging technologies and predicts that, after the Peak of Inflated Expectations, when interest and excitement for a technology are at their highest levels, a phase of disillusionment will follow, when expectations are not met and interest in the technology decreases. The technologies related to the Metaverse are at the point where they are ready to roll down. In relation to the Hype Cycle, the prospects for the Metaverse are therefore uncertain and depend on various factors, including technology adoption, investment and ethical concerns.

Daniele Rossi is Full Professor at the University of Camerino. His research activities focus on themes specifically related to the discipline: the potential of new digital languages within the culture and techniques of representation, and their relationships of continuity and innovation with tradition. Among his university roles at the University of Camerino, from 2018 to 2023, he served as the Rector's delegate for Start-up, Spin-off, and Technology Incubator. Since 2015, he has been the coordinator of the Master's degree course in Design for Digital Innovation (formerly Computational Design) at the School of Architecture and Design "E. Vittoria".
