Fractalopolis is a strategic, and adaptable modelling method that combines multifractal theory, central place theory, and urban planning theories. It offers valuable insights for developing innovative scenarios at multiple levels through a complementarity of central and peripheral areas, by effectively combining spatial contexts and practices, green corridors, transport connections, and residents’ accessibilities to amenities. This model is explained with the Metropolitan City of Cagliari.
Chiara Garau is associate professor in Urban and Regional Planning at the DICAAR of the University of Cagliari. Her main research interests are focused on issues of Urban and Regional Planning, particularly on smart cities; urban modelling and analytics, participatory processes; and urban policies. A referee of several international scientific journals, she is author of over 140 publications.
